Today’s review is on Tom Ford’s Cocoa Mirage Palette. I picked mine up at David Jones on Elizabeth St. for $100. Currently you can get it at David Jones’ brick-and-mortar stores in Sydney and Melbourne as well as online through their website.
The quad comes with 3 matte shades and one shimmer shade. The top left colour is a matte cream. The top right a warm medium brown. The bottom left is a chocolate shimmer and the bottom right is a matte dark brown.
The cream is great for highlighting and a soft wash of colour for those with medium skintones. The medium brown is great as a transition shade while I use the chocolate shimmer for smokey eyes. The dark brown is great at creating definition in the outer corner as well as defining the lash line. The two matte browns make excellent brow shades.
All shadows are soft, finely milled and have a creamy consistency. I find that they apply excellently with or without a primer due to the intense pigmentation, with any brush and are extremely easy to blend. While the palette doesn’t scream exciting, I’ve been reaching for it at least twice a week since I purchased it back in June to create a plethora of looks be it a softly defined eye or an intense smokey eye. It’s a must have palette that goes well with other shades as it contains highlight, transition and defining shades.
I do get some creasing after 8 hours of wear but no fading until after at least 10 hours.
Here’s a few shots of the smokey eye I like doing with the quad. I wore this eye look to my birthday dinner with a dark red lip.
I used the creamy matte as a highlight, the matte medium brown as a transition and blending shade, while the chocolate shimmer shade was used all over the mobile lid, a black pencil was smudged on my upper lash line and used the dark brown in the outer third of my lids.
Have you guys picked up anything from Tom Ford? How do you find them?
