Long time no review, huh?
Today I’m reviewing MAC’s Impassioned lipstick which is an amplified creme. On the MAC website it’s described as an ‘amped up fuchsia’. To me it’s a bright watermelon pink that is slightly muted on my pigmented lips.
You can buy these at MAC counters and online at the MAC website where it retails for $36.
I achieved full opacity in one swipe directly from the bullet.
The swatch on the right without the flash is the colour that shows up on my lips. It leaves the lips with a slightly glossy finish which isn’t as shiny as the MAC lipsticks with lustre finishes.
When you use this lipstick make sure that you’ve properly exfoliated your lips and don’t have any dry spots because this bad boy will put a spotlight on them!
I used this on top of a lip primer that I always use and found it moisturising, non-drying and left a slight stain when removing with Bioderma. This is a fun spring/summer colour but I haven’t been reaching for it and don’t think I will because of its vividness which is even more apparent in person.
To its credit the lipstick is non-drying and had a nice slip when applying it. I’m sure this is the first amplified creme lipstick I’ve used from MAC, as I’m either a lustre or matte type of girl, so I’m not sure what the texture is supposed to be like with this formula. Regardless, it’s smooth, opaque and is moisturising.
Like all lipsticks I wear, this one fades when I eat. I don’t mind lipstick fading as I, surprisingly, enjoy reapplying lippy throughout the day when I’m not at uni.
I know it’s not as stark as a bold red lip but wearing this lipstick makes me feel like I’m getting attention for other reasons. A bold red is classic but I’m not used to wearing a bright pink which made me feel slightly uncomfortable the first time I wore it.
Have you guys used this? What do you think about it? What other pinks do you recommend for tan skin?
